NT: Nothing could have averted healthy baby's death: coroner

Northern Territory health authorities have been cleared of any wrongdoing following
the death of an apparently healthy baby girl last year.

NT Coroner GREG CAVANAGH has found nothing could have averted the death of infant SKYE
BREE BURNETT, who died three days after being released from hospital in May 2002.

Mr CAVANAGH says it's plain from the evidence that the death wasn't preventable.

He's ruled the cause of death was sudden death in an infant with broncho-pulmonary dysplasia.

However, he says doctors couldn't have known about the baby's condition prior to her death.

Mr CAVANAGH found the baby had received good care at Royal Darwin Hospital and Darwin
Private Hospital, and her discharge was appropriate.
