A 54-year-old hard-drinking drifter with an arrest record spanning three decades was denied bail Thursday on charges that he robbed two downtown Albany banks.
"I don't see you as a decent risk for bail, as you might expect," U.S. Magistrate Judge Ralph W. Smith Jr. told Gene Melvin Jones.
